“A
dream starts with one tiny drop like a waterfall.”
Hello Everyone!
Today I heard the sound of an early spring …
~ little birdie on my window pane thank you for coming along
to make my day as dear to me
as your sweet unspoiled soft song. ~
The power of sound is echoed beautifully and continuously through nature and yet it is in the stillness of our silence we hear more distinctly what needs to be heard.
There’s music everywhere…especially in the Annapolis Valley. Live performances such as Deep Roots and of course coming up in March WOW (the Women of Wolfville), we have Choirs (Annapolis Valley Honour Choir to mention one), Open Mics, and beyond.
Over the fall and winter I have been celebrating music in our communities.
I have had a great time dropping into several open mics throughout the valley. I encourage any readers to send me a list of your favourite open mics and I will be happy to post it on my web site under “Suggested Links”.
 Open Mic
Tan Café, Greenwood, NS
March is just around the corner and I am delighted to say I‘ll be performing at the Al Whittle theatre on March 3rd at the Night Kitchen and at the St. John’s Parish Hall, Wolfville on March 9th for International Women’s Day. Keep an eye on the web for upcoming performances.
Last August bass player, Sindy Strong, came to work with me and set herself to learning the repertoire of “hopegillismusic.” And I am pleased to say another talented musician has come aboard to share her gift of voice. Since October, 2011, I have had the privilege of being accompanied by backup vocalist Susanne Winters. Susanne brings with her a passion for music and an adaptability to add harmonies and backup effortlessly to my music. Take a moment to read this season’s featured article on Susanne Winters and get to know how many wonderful musicians we have here in this musically rich Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia.
As well when you’re not amidst the great outdoors to hear the sounds of nature then check out a wonderful song written by a friend of mine Andy Flinn called Little Birdie. You can find this on track 8 on the album Seeking Commotion by Andy and Ariana & the t@b Groove Co-Op.

One of the most charming little tunes I’ve ever heard. ~
~ Peace within, my friends ~

This Season's Feature recognizes...
Susanne Winters - Vocalist
At the early age of eight Susanne Winters began to share her gift of voice in her local church choir where her music director insightfully saw her talent and encouraged her to perform solo. She continued to share her gift of song at local variety shows and other musical events.
Although Susanne could have easily pursued a career as a solo artist she finds great pleasure in supporting other musicians on their musical journey. You can hear her as backup vocalist as she magically pulls out those sweet harmonies that bring pleasure to our ears and to our hearts on Paul Dunn's CD “After You've Prayed
".
Susanne lives in Wolfville, Nova Scotia where you will find her to be a significant contributor to her community from being a fundraiser for the Cancer Society, an active member of the Wolfville & Area Newcomers to a choir member of the Wolfville Community Chorus. She kindly has taken on learning Hope’s repertoire as well as performing at various performances with Hope since October 2011. Her talent and passion for music is invaluable to all those who have the good fortune of working with her.
Welcome Aboard Susanne!
