Hope Gillis - news

Hello Friends,

Autumn is here in full swing and so is the Music. Lots of fun events coming your way!

Musicians Aran Silmeryn and Mark Ponikvar are raising awareness of Canadian Child Poverty with their generous efforts by organizing a Charity Concert and Silent Auction to take place in the upstairs room(The little Whittle) at the Al Whittle Theatre in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. I am very excited to be part of this fund raising concert and to be sharing the afternoon on stage with some great musicians from the Annapolis Valley. See Upcoming Performances for more details.

Although the snow isn’t falling yet Christmas Daddies is around the corner and I am honored to have been asked to perform on their televised fundraiser event, November 29/09. Keep an eye on Eastlink Television for   lyric and songs from musicians throughout the Annapolis Valley. See Upcoming Performances for more details.

Summer Reflections.

The Paddy’s Pub Irish session band was invited  to Cape Breton by Paddy’s owner, Brian Fitzgerald, who graciously  provided a wonderful weekend of tasty food and good cheer for the devoted Band Members who share their time and talents every Sunday evening at Paddy’s Pub  in Wolfville , Nova Scotia. The weekend was full of music for everyone as The Paddy’s Pub Irish session band was on the lineup for entertainment at the South Mountain Arm of Gold community hall  in St. George’s Channel, NS. The South Mountain Arm of Gold  Community Association shared their pride and pleasure of receiving the Community Spirit Award which was presented by the Lt Governor on Aug 30/09.

Sister fair festival which was held September 24/09 was organized by Kadijah Harcourt Vernon who brought a diverse and exciting lineup to the stage from native drums to belly dancing.  www.sisterfair.comThe Saturday concert has been one of my favorite stage moments performing with my talented friends Miss Madelene Embree (Queen of harmony) and the Jazzy John Malmstrom on his multiple horns. http://johnmalmstrom.com/

Please keep an eye open for New Upcoming Events as the www.hopegillismusic.com  web site is updated on a regular base.

In Remembrance.

A very dear friend of mind, Rod Buckland who passed away Aug 7/09, left these wonderful words to us who continue to believe in the things we cannot see…

“A dream starts with one tiny drop like a waterfall.”
